about

PREHISTORY musically charters the shifting, early geological periods of a terrestrial planet, a continuous reformation of its surface that takes place over hundreds of millions of years. This infantile period has a violent and explosive geology but is also the genesis of the most simple and original forms of life, brought by frequent collisions with solar bodies. The early Sun, brighter than life can truly thrive in yet, penetrates a thin but developing atmosphere. The planet slowly evolves over billions of years while the crust forms into giant supercontinents, almost habitable.

The sound of PREHISTORY is heavily rooted in synthwave, utilizing genre tropes like upfront bass arpeggios, gaudy leads, analogue-esque synths and repetitive rhythms but also layers it with distortion and pushes it in a hulking, ambient, downtempo direction. The early, hellish atmosphere of planetary evolution is aggressive and cold, but it isn't without moments of sublime, cosmic beauty.
